If you’re an adventurer dying for some off-roading and dune-bashing thrills, this is the ultimate action-packed day for you. Khaleej Times brings you the third edition of Khaleej Times Desert Drive — all set to take off to the deserts of Ras Al Khaimah.
After a successful launch in 2019, the one-day event is set to return on February 26, ready to give participants that adrenaline rush in an unforgettable desert adventure.
KT Desert Drive will cruise through varying levels of challenging terrain on the way to the final camp.
Perfect for both adventure junkies and newbies — as well as families — the self-driven journey will give residents a chance to explore the desert, leaving their concerns with the expert marshals who will be with them every step of the way.
Since its launch, the annual drive has been one of the highly anticipated events of the year and the 2021 edition promises to be no different.
Keeping the new normal in mind, KT Desert Drive prioritises participants’ ultimate comfort, safety and security. Enhanced health and safety measures will be applied throughout the journey. Showing their support as a lead sponsor this year, Mitsubishi Motors–Montero Sport will be the new leader of the pack for the drive.
“The new generation Montero Sport comes with Mitsubishi’s advanced technology and decades of off-road expertise crafted into a luxurious and advanced SUV. Its outstanding on and off-road performance makes it fun to drive. With its class-leading 5.6m turning radius, it is easy to park and drive. The Montero is a beautifully crafted seven-seater that’s perfect for families and off-road enthusiasts,” said CV Ravin, general manager for sales at Al Habtoor Motors-Mitsubishi.
Besides the lead sponsor, Khaleej Times Desert Drive is also supported by Castrol, the exclusive lubricant partner; Al Jazira Poultry, checkpoint sponsor; and Dubai Offroaders. For further information, get in touch with us at events@khaleejtimes.com
How to register
Registration and ticket sales for the drive are now live on the website www.ktdesertdrive.com.
The entry fee, exclusive of VAT, is Dh350 per adult and Dh150 per child under 12. Kids under four can join for free.
KT Desert Drive 2021 will kick off on Friday, February 26, from Ras Al Khaimah. After check-in and registration by 8am, participants will collect their meal packs, drive route plan, vouchers, etc. before the flag-off at 9am.
The drive will feature various checkpoints where refreshments will be served. After seven hours of drifting through towering dunes, participants will arrive at a Bedouin-style camp for dinner and live entertainment.
To prepare participants before the drive, a tutorial on the vehicle requirements will be held. Details will be shared closer to the event date.
