Committed to vulnerable segments of the society, Beit Al Khair Society (BAKS) has contributed 1,500 packs of meat to 1,500 poor and low-income families.
The scheme that targeted eligible families in Dubai and Ajman was carried out in collaboration with the slaughterhouses department of the Dubai Municipality. Sufficient amounts of meat were contributed to every family that was registered with BAKS.
Ali Al Balochi, an executive with BAKS, said the kind gesture is part of the strategic cooperation between BAKS and Dubai Slaughterhouses for supporting vulnerable people.
"Only the destitute families in the country were targeted in this charitable drive which is in line with the diverse activities being held under the 'Year of Giving' presidential initiative.
"During the Ramadan, BAKS had spent Dh83,524,708 on an array of charity projects. Over 25,000 families benefited from the diverse philanthropic programmes, held under the theme: 'They will by greatly rewarded'. The beneficiaries included 5,500 families who receive fixed monthly allowances, as well as 1,800 orphans, and many other listed widows, patients, old people, defaulters, and people with determination," he said.
The Dubai Municipality had recently honoured BAKS in appreciation to its charity efforts and for winning the Prince Mohammad bin Fahd Prize for Best Charity Performance in the Arab World.
