Under the second phase of putting its services online, the Dubai Police on Wednesday announced the launch of 13 more smart services in addition to the five that were started last year.
These are part of the Dubai Police's plans to reduce visits by the public to police stations by 80 per cent by the end of 2018.
The Dubai Police said that there are five channels to provide the 18 services, including the E.gate, smart app, bank, kiosk and IPad.
The 13 smart services that you can avail now are the night work permit, certificate for lost possession, 'to whom it may concern' certificate, certificate of good conduct, for paying traffic fines, issuing of e-accident reports, house safety scheme, traffic fine certificate, request for list of traffic fines, request for copy of a traffic violation, driving licence processing, report about minor accidents and reporting suspicious online activities.
Dr Abdul Qudus, assistant commander-in-chief for Quality and Excellence, Dubai Police, explained that in the first phase, five services had been stopped manually. He said that during the six months after stopping the services, 84 per cent of people availed them through the different smart channels and did not visit the police stations. Those who couldn't avail the smart services were either people with special needs, the elderly or a certain section of workers. He said the police will start initiatives to enable everyone to use the online services.
The Dubai Police was moving towards making 40 services smart by end of this year and till now, around 49 per cent services have been stopped manually, he pointed out
Using police data is extremely secure and police can foil all attempts of hacking or misuse of the services, he added.
The Dubai Police service centres will not turn away those who visit them. Ipads and kiosks will be available at these centres and the visitors will be taught on how to get the service electronically through smart applications. However, those who want to obtain the services manually will have to pay the service fee of Dh100.
"All services that have been stopped can be availed through the Internet, mobile app and touch screen devices available in the UAE," said Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razzouqi. .
Director-general of Total Quality Management Col Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mualla said a marketing plan for the services would be implemented through smart apps with help of the media.
Al Razouqi said that availing the services online will make it easier for the public to complete their transaction without visiting the police station and it will reduce time and effort in case of minor accidents, which don't really require police patrols at the site.
