The Directorate of Traffic sector of Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations, has urged drivers to have their tyres thoroughly inspected, especially during the summer season.
Colonel Mohammed Muslim Al Muharrami, Director of Administration, Al Dhafra Traffic, said the campaign about the safety of tyres aims to educate drivers about the risks involved in using expired and unsafe tyres.
He stressed that tyres with any defects are a risk on UAE roads, particularly worn out ones or those that have passed their expiration period.
Colonel Al Muharrami thus urged drivers to ensure that their car tyres are in good condition to prevent the risk of explosion, particularly from summer heat. He also said that those using unsafe tyres could receive a Dh500 fine, four black points as well as have their vehicle confiscated for one week.
