The Fujairah Police have rescued an eight-year-old boy who fell into an artesian well in a house in Fujairah's Al Badia area.
According to the police, they received a call on Sunday from an Asian man, who said he heard the voice of someone calling for help from inside a well. When he reached the well, he found the boy inside and immediately called the police.
A rescue team was dispatched to the house. Staff-sergeant Ali Khamees Al Khazaimi climbed down the well and rescued the boy. The rescue team used a rope to pull out the duo.
The police rushed the boy to the nearest hospital, where he was treated and discharged on the same day.
Lt.-Col Saif Rashid Al Yamahi, Director of Dibba police station, said the boy's father and the owner of the house were questioned over a possible case of negligence.

He urged community members to not keep wells uncovered. He also called on parents to keep a watchful eye on their children to protect them from untoward incidents.
