Sixty-four per cent of international university branch campuses in Dubai have earned four to five stars in the latest ratings of higher education institutions in the emirate, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced on Monday.
Called the Higher Education Classification (HEC), the tool helps students and their parents make university choices, enabling them to compare ratings on core categories, such as teaching, research, employability and internationalisation.
This year's classification showed that six branch campuses achieved a five-star rating, five achieved a four-star rating, four received a three-star rating, while two received a two-star rating.
Among those that earned five stars were Heriot-Watt University, London Business School, Manipal University, Middlesex University Dubai, Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (BITS Pilani) Dubai Campus, and City, University of London.
Those who got four were Amity University Dubai, Hult International Business School, S P Jain School of Global Management, SAE Institute and The University of Manchester Worldwide.
"The Higher Education Classification is another step forward in the maturity of Dubai's private higher education sector. Students in Dubai and all over the world can refer to the HEC to identify what they value in higher education, and then to make more confident decisions about their future in Dubai," said Dr Wafi Dawood, CEO of strategy and planning sector at KHDA .
The ratings have been developed in partnership with QS Quacquarelli Symonds and adapted to meet the needs of branch campuses in Dubai.
Seventeen branch campuses across Dubai took part in the classification and more than 30,000 students were surveyed.
