A three-year-old Arab girl fell to her death from the 12th floor of the building where she stayed in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
According to the police, the little girl was left unsupervised, with furniture left close to the window from where she fell.
The tragedy was reported from the Khalidiya area at 1.30pm. On being notified, the police and paramedics swung into action and rushed to the spot.
The police have launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events that led to the child's death.
Colonel Hamad Al Niyadi, deputy director of the metropolitan police, criminal security sector, stressed the importance of not leaving children unattended at homes.
He explained that one of the main reasons behind fatal fall of children from buildings is putting furniture very close to windows. He urged the public not to leave their children alone at homes to ensure their safety.
