Anti-smoking campaigns have got followers among detainees at a Dubai police station. As many as 20 detainees have stopped smoking after a campaign was launched by the Rashidiya police station titled "Leave smoking when you are healthy." 
Brigadier-General Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Malik, director of Al Rashidiya police station, who launched the initiative targeting detainees, said that the initiative is part of the community initiatives organised by the police station, which aims to establish social responsibility towards the public. He added that smoking causes severe health damages including cancers, tuberculosis and also causes anxiety and nervousness Brig.-Gen. Al Malik added that detainees who stopped smoking included one who used to smoke three packs of cigarettes a day.
