Everyone knows that when the summer season in the UAE begins, it's the perfect time to go on a short break. While some plan for their summers with exotic getaways, traveling abroad is not always a feasible option. If you're staying in the country and looking for things to do, here are some great activities to do this summer; oh, and they all cost under Dh30. Win.

Take a trip to Hatta - Free

A trip to Hatta is a must for every UAE resident. Seeing the dam in all its natural glory is well worth the lengthy travel time. If you're feeling a bit fancy, there are kayak rentals for you to try out.

Visit Al Ain Zoo - Dh27

Going to the zoo is a family treat - and no doubt Al Ain Zoo is one of the most popular ones around. Get up close and personal with pink flamingos and regal lions at their stunning menagerie. Children pay only Dh9!

Hop on a Abra at Old Dubai - Dh1

Taking a ride in an abra is like taking a trip though time and getting a feel of how Dubai used to look back in the day. Crossing the creek using these motorised boats only cost Dh1, one of the many things you can still buy in Dubai for only Dh1.

Shop at Dubai's Flea Market - Dh5

The Dubai Flea Market is the largest budget bazaar in town, and one of the longest running ones too. There, UAE residents peddle their pre-loved items for extremely low prices; so low that you can pretty much go home with a huge haul with just Dh20!

Take a dip in Al Mamzar Park - Dh5

The massive Al Mamzar Beach Park is both a park and a beach rolled into one convenient package. You can either take a dip in the water or just relax underneath the trees. Al Mamzar a bit too far? You can always try.

Chill at Jumeirah Beach - Free

What do you do when it's summer? You take a swim of course! And where better to do it than in Jumeirah Beach. Because let's face it, there's nothing better than swimming 'beside' the Burj Al Arab.

Drive up Jebel Hafeet - Free

Another lengthy journey, make sure your car is up for the task of climbing up the road towards Jebel Hafeet. Getting near the top will reward you with unequalled views of Al Ain down below.

Wander Al Ain's Classic Car Museum - Dh5

New cars are everywhere in the UAE, classic cars? Not so much. But thankfully, Al Ain Classic Car Museum houses a lot of these automobiles. See and admire loads of automotive wonders for the measly price of Dh5.

Eat at a buffet - Dh29

Here's a little secret - Dubai's Karama neighbourhood hosts a bunch of restaurants offering simple - albeit delicious - buffet fare. Some even have karaoke!

Stroll through Sharjah Desert Park - Dh15

It's a botanical park, natural history museum, wildlife centre AND a children's farm. And for only Dh15! What's not to like?
