Sharjah - The Roads and Transport Authority of Sharjah has paved the Eid Musalla and rebuilt the arterial Fadhl bin Al Abbas road in the same area.

Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Al Hajiri, Director of RTA Sharjah for Roads Affairs, said the 500m long and 7.3m wide road connects the Buraida bin Al Khaseeb road with the Musalla area and Al Zahra road.

“The road has also been equipped with 5.35m wide walkways paved with interlock on both sides of the road.”

The Musalla area has also been paved with interlock to be used as parking lots for the visitors of the new headquarters of the Sharjah Municipality that opened on Thursday, he added.

“The 17,800sqm Musalla has been paved with interlock whereas the external yard next to it has been turned into 552 paid parking spaces.”

Al Hajiri stated that the Dh19 million project spans the construction of an integrated rain drainage network. “These are added to other civil works, such as lamp posts, and underground pipes for supplies.”

The project is in pursuance to the instructions of directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, he pointed out.

“All road and transport projects are designed to accommodate current and future needs of urban expansion in the region, enhance traffic flow, and raise the standard of living of residents therein.”

The authority is dedicated to improve the quality of roads to cope with the under way plans for urban development and economic and tourism, as well as the steady increase of population and the movement of transport, he underlined.

All passengers are urged to keep in touch with the Sharjah Transport Office (at 600525252) to submit their comments, complaints and suggestions on the services being provided, he said.
