Head of the Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Division Major Salah Abdullah Al Humairi emphasised the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate’s keenness to raise the level of traffic safety in every possible way, by increasing traffic control devices and patrols around traffic lights and intersections, to hold back running a red light. He indicated that Al Ain Police recorded 2,114 offences involving jumping of red lights last year.

Al Humairi called upon motorists to take part in the traffic awareness programmes, by slowing down when traffic lights turn from green to flashing yellow light before turning to red, so as to avoid colliding with oncoming vehicles from other directions.Concluding, Al Humairi underscored the importance of respecting traffic signals, calling on motorists to bring their vehicles to a full stop when the traffic light is red and move only when the light goes green.— news@khaleejtimes.com
