The road repair works, which represented the fourth phase of the corniche road development works, started from the National Bank of Abu Dhabi to the Central Market.
Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Al Hajiri, Director of the SRTA for Roads Affairs, said the arterial road was partially blocked for just 15 days instead of the anticipated 30 days. “The maintenance works spans three lanes which are 10.95m wide, whereas part of the asphalt layer was removed and relaid. Other works like more spacious U-turns and new speed humps controlled with traffic signals have also been completed.”
UAQ entrance project
The Ministry of Public Works will build a 1km-long alternative road to ease the expected traffic rush from phase II of the construction of the entrance of Umm Al Quwain project. The project is scheduled for completion by 2017. “We are building road diversions and sub-roads to ensure smooth traffic, mainly for those heading from Ajman to Ras Al Khaimah,” Jabber Jassim, Manager of Roads Department at the ministry, said.
