Dubai — Motorbikes featuring sporty number plates will soon be visible on Dubai roads. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will release the newly-designed number plates for motorbikes from February 22.
At the time of registration renewal, motorbike owners will be required to replace their old plates with the new ones featuring an enhanced design.
“The RTA is always keen to revamp its service offering, and introduce innovative techniques to match expectations and aspirations of various community segments,” said Mohammed Abdul Karim Nimaat, Director of Vehicle Licensing at the RTA’s Licensing Agency.
“Since the number of motorbikes registered in Dubai is quite sizeable, amounting to as much as 26,000, we opted to add a touch of beauty and exclusivity to them by introducing newly designed plates branded by an innovative design of a motorbike inserted besides the number and the code. For the first time, motorbike plates will include the plate bearing the number one.”
The new plates will cost Dh25 over and above the renewal fees.
“The new plates will be issued at the time of renewing registration of the existing motorbikes, registering new ones, or in replacement of lost or damaged plates.”
