A decision to this end was announced on Wednesday by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police. The move was taken to ease the flow of traffic into and out of the capital.

Brigadier Husein Ajmed Al Harithi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate has called on truck drivers to abide by the rules, adhere to speed limits, and to use new tyres. He also urged lorry drivers to abide by the fixed load and to fasten it properly so that they don’t fall off the vehicle causing accidents or disrupting traffic.

The police will also intensify surveillance on roads to curb the risks of overtaking and other causes that lead accidents, Brig Al Harithi said, pointing out that truck drivers overtaking vehicles in a dangerous way is a serious violation and will attract fines of up to Dh10,000 and suspension of the driving license for three months.
