Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, rewarded a host of strategic partners in various Dubai Government entities, media channels, contractors and consultants in recognition of their efforts, cooperation and effective participation.
The ceremony was held at the RTA headquarters in Al Ramool and was attended by Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police; Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa); and a number of top executives and representatives of government departments.
During the ceremony, Al Tayer received a certificate of Guinness World Records for the biggest screen using the optical illusion technology showcasing the features and ingredients of Dubai Tram during the opening ceremony in November last year in a 393-square-metre display area. The certificate was handed over by Samer Khallouf, project manager at the Guinness.
“Dubai Tram is one of the mega and sophisticated projects and it required close coordination with a host of government entities and departments highlighted by the General HQ of the Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Dewa, Civil Defence, Traffic Prosecution, and the Dubai Health Authority, among others, in addition to internal coordination within the RTA between various sectors and agencies,” said Al Tayer.
Key challenges still lie ahead for the work team overseeing the tram management like charting a programme for training and qualifying national personnel specialised in the operation and maintenance of the tram and ensuring its safe operation, he added.
