The record 24-times Grand Slam champion is still seeking his first trophy of the season
“We are talking to the Emirates Telecommunication Corporation to partner with them and bring this service to motorists in the emirate,” said Sharjah Municipality director-general Riyadh Abdullah bin Al Aylan.
He said the service would soon be available but did not give the exact date when residents could anticipate it happening.
There have been a chorus of calls from residents demanding the municipality to adopt the new technology to save time wasted standing at pay machines, or risk getting fines if they did not return to the pay machine to extend their parking time.
Al Aylan also said the municipality had started services that enable drivers to pay their parking fines and other municipality fees electronically. Such a service was introduced in Dubai in 2009. More such services that cope with the information revolution were being studied and will soon be implemented.
