“The number of women and children metro passengers have noticeably increased, thanks primarily to the growth in public transport usage culture from different social cross-sections. In reply to such a rise in the number of these commuters, we have decided to extend the current capacity of their metro cabin to cover half of silver cabin,” said Ramadan Abdullah, Director of Rail Operations, RTA Rail Agency.
“We are committed to making metro trips smoother and more comfortable for women and children, especially as this segment of metro users needs to be more cared for due to their privacy requirements,” he added.
The official explained that the extension service will be active during peak hours, from 7am to 9am and from 5pm to 8pm, Sunday to Thursday throughout the week.
Abdullah appealed all male metro commuters to respect the new cabin allocation during the aforementioned peak hours and help women and children travellers enjoy a smooth metro experience with more privacy and peace of mind.
In addition to privacy, the Dubai Metro compartments for women and children provide more space to allow strollers and bags.
