“The new technology is represented in the installation of smart phones, Samsung Galaxy, in our limos and function as meters through the android apps. The gadgets are linked to the Booking and Despatch Centre of the Agency and furnish the system with all information relating to the journey,” said Adel Shakeri, Director of Franchise and Monitoring at RTA Public Transport Agency.

“The pilot technology is considered the first of its kind in the Middle East. The system thus links limos with the booking and despatch centre and will help retrieve information about the fleet and pinpoint their positions on the map. It will also generate reports of trips made by these vehicles.

“The programme also has the feature to address customer requests. The launch of the programme was timed with the debut of the VIP taxi service by the Dubai Taxi Corporation,” elaborated Shakri. The Dubai Taxi Corporation recently launched the VIP Taxi Service under the theme ‘New Dimension of Transport Luxury’ to deliver luxury services to high-end customers at the airport and other important areas in the Emirate.

The service differs from the ordinary taxi service as it features high levels of luxury and privacy.
