The Ministry of Infrastructure Development on Wednesday announced developing a new road to link the Shaikh Khalifa Road in Fujairah with the Khatm Marine Centre and Corniche Road.
Eng Ahmed Al Hammadi, Manager of Roads at the ministry, said the work for the road will be started this month.
"The 4.4km long road, with an estimated cost of Dh29 million, will consist of two lanes in each direction with a median for future expansion and possible addition of a third lane in both directions."
A traffic signal will also be installed to control traffic flow, he added. "Work for the rainwater drainage networks, along with lighting network and metal barriers will be carried out as well."
The project is aimed to connect the Corniche Road No 99 with the Shaikh Khalifa Road, Al Hammadi elaborated. "The new road will better connect Dubai with the northern emirates and ensure traffic flow."
The ministry will also develop three new projects, worth Dh498 million, for the ministries of education, culture and health in the emirates of Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah, according to an informed source with the ministry.
