Under the patronage of Lieutenant -General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the 30th edition of GCC Traffic Week 2014, with the theme, “Our goal is your safety”, was opened today by Lieutenant-General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, at a ceremony organised by the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police in the Rosewood Hotel on Al Marya Island in Abu Dhabi.
The event was attended by delegations from the GCC countries and the Traffic Week, which runs until March 15, is aimed at ensuring the safety of people, reducing the number of traffic accidents and finding solutions to different traffic problems.
The ceremony witnessed the launching of many new community initiatives by the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police, which aims to engage the community, citizens and residents, in thinking and innovation, as well as the promotion of traffic campaigns throughout the year with 12 initiatives related to traffic safety.
The opening was attended by a number of senior officers, Directors-General, officers at the Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police.
