107,000 use RTA’s smart phone app to take road test

The free test service through RTA Dubai app seeks to hit a number of objectives highlighted by supporting the Smart Government initiative in Dubai.

One of the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) smart phone app launched about two months ago has helped more than 107,000 driving licence applicants take a direct Knowledge Test or emulate the test to acquaint themselves with the RTA test.

The free experimental Knowledge Test service through RTA Dubai app seeks to hit a number of objectives highlighted by supporting the Smart Government initiative in Dubai launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Hussain Al Saffar, Director of Drivers Training and Qualification, RTA Licensing Agency, said obtaining a driver licence is no longer a luxury but a necessity due to job requirements. Therefore, we opted to add this service to the authority’s smart app services lineup to help clients dispel any confusion on the requirements of obtaining a driver licence.”

He said the RTA recently launched this free Knowledge Test on a trial base for driving licence applicants via a mobile phone smart app (RTA Dubai).

“This smart app can be used in both iPhone and android smart phones. The steps are as follows: Download the app in the phone, select the suitable interface language (Arabic, English or Urdu), select drivers category, select knowledge test exercise, read instructions, and select the type of vehicle (light vehicle, heavy vehicle, motorcycle, light bus). The test, comprising 35 questions, will then start.

Each question has three potential answers for selecting the right one. By the end of the test, the applicant will get a score showing correct and incorrect answers achieved, and the test will last 30 minutes displayed as an icon on the screen,” said Al Saffar.
