Relax, the Galaxy S7 is safe: Samsung

Dubai - Company issues 'pre-emptive' statement regarding apparent isolated cases of exploding units

Still reeling from the Galaxy Note7 debacle, Samsung has, as Android Authority put it, issued a "slightly odd pre-emptive statement" regarding batteries in its Galaxy S7 line-up.
The South Korean tech giant said that they "stand behind the quality and safety of the Galaxy S7 family" and that there have been "no confirmed cases of internal battery failures with these devices among the more than 10 million devices being used by consumers in the United States".
"However," it continued, "we have confirmed a number of instances caused a severe external damage. Until Samsung is able to obtain and examine any device, it is impossible to determine the true cause of any incident."
Sure, there have been reports of the S7 blowing up in a man's hand. But we have reason to believe that these incidents are isolated cases.
There's no reason to panic here. Phone Arena hit it right on the head: "History has taught us that pretty much any handset - including iPhones - can catch fire in various circumstances, but the incidence of these cases is very low."
The Galaxy S7 series has been in the market longer and nothing worthy of an apocalypse has happened.
But Samsung is spot-on here: it had to clarify to its customers - especially the loyal ones - that everything is fine with the Galaxy S7.
If there's anything really odd here, it's the fact that Samsung is, apparently, still clueless on what really went wrong with its ill-fated Note7 devices.
