Indian tennis star Sania Mirza bowed out of tennis after losing her doubles match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships.
With American Madison Keys playing alongside the pair went down 6-4 6-0 to Veronika Kudermetova and Ludmila Samsonova at a packed Court No 3.
Mirza, arguably the greatest women’s tennis player to emerge from India, had committed to retirement going into the tournament after a glitter 20-year career during which she won six Grand Slam titles, in doubles and mixed doubles.
“It hasn’t really hit me, but I’m sure I’m going to have a good cry tomorrow,” said Mirza
