Qatar finished final day of the GCC Para-Athletics Championships on a high with three gold and two silver while Kuwait won two gold medals in the men's discus F40/41/42/44 and 200m T52/53 events.
Honours were even on the penultimate day when the UAE had its fair share of gold of what was on offer, like on Day 1.
The GCC's para-athletes will now turn their focus to the Doha 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships which take place in five weeks at the Qatar Sports Club from October 21-31.
Qatari para-athletics star Shareefa Al Haddad added yet another gold medal to Team Qatar's final medal tally, bringing her personal total to three golds, in the 100m Deaf/T20 women's event in a time of 16.68 seconds. She finished just ahead of silver medallist Qatar's Mona Al Saadi who won in 17.66 seconds.
Shareefa said: "The GCC Para-Athletics Championships have been immensely successful for me. I am extremely pleased and excited to have won three gold medals for Qatar. I am really excited ahead of the Doha 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in October and I will give it my absolute best to make Qatar proud once again."
Qatari Paralympian Nasser Al Sahoti, who competed in the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games, showed his prowess and experience in the men's F56/57 javeli, dominating the competition with a best throw of 32.87 m to win the gold medal. The UAE's Rashed Al Zeyoudi took silver with a best throw of 19.06m while Saudi Arabia's Fahad bin Diran claimed the bronze medal.
UAE Paralympics hero Mohammed Al Hammadi and compatriot Rashed Al Dhaheri secured first places to join Abdelrahman Abdelqader from Qatar in the medal rush at the GCC Para-Athletics Championships, on Monday.
Hammadi with a blistering 28.13 seconds clinched the men's 200m T33/34 gold, edging past an impressive field that included world-record holder Ahmad Al Mutairi of Kuwait. Dhaheri won gold in an incredibly close 800m T53/54 final, leaving Kuwait's pre-race favourite Faisal Al Rajehi in silver berth.
Hammadi said: "I consider Doha my lucky charm after winning three gold medals in the GCC Championships! This is a great morale booster for me ahead of the Doha 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in October, in which I will compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m. After my performance here I am extremely optimistic and I hope to achieve much in Doha."
Local mega star Abdelqader continued his medal-winning streak on the third day with a silver in the men's javelin F33/34 event. In the shot put F33/34, Sara Masoud won Qatar's fifth gold medal of the Championships.
Abdelqader won his third medal of the GCC Para-Athletics Championships after the silver medal on Sunday in the discus event as well as a gold medal and a new world record in the shot put on Saturday.
Abdelqader said: "I could not be happier with my performance during the GCC Para-Athletics Championships. Since this is my last competition before the Doha 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in October, I feel confident that I will be able to use my experience."
