Ending up on the losing side would've definitely hurt but cricket's rising young star Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane reckoned that playing in different franchise leagues and in different conditions will help him in the future as he scales the international ladder.
The 18-year-old leg spinner has gone on to become one to watch out for. His rapid rise has seen Lamichhane parade his wares in the IPL, Australia's Big Bash, the Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League, the Afghanistan Premier League as well as featuring in the ICC World XI.
And the youngster's latest foray is the Pakistan Super League.
Lamichhane has played two matches so far for the Lahore Qalandars and has taken four wickets. He picked up 3-46 against the Multan Sultans in Sharjah on Friday night and followed that up with 1-20 in his four overs against the Gladiators on Saturday night.
Although he managed only one wicket, he posed a number of questions to the Gladiators batsmen, including Gladiators and Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Umar Akmal.
And Lamichhane said that this was part of his learning process and these experiences will serve him well later on. "It is a fantastic opportunity for me," Lamichhane said of playing the PSL.
"Every League is an opportunity for me, especially where I come from. Playing in different leagues and in different conditions like Dubai and Sharjah will help me as I come from an emerging nation," added Lamichhane, who hails from Chitwan province.
About the game against the Gladiators, Lamichhane said that things could've been different had they had 15 to 20 runs more.
"We were getting a bit of spin from the wicket. If you want something you need to do something and make it happen. We got a breakthrough and kept getting wickets but Sarfraz (Ahmed) played a great innings," he said.
"It is not comfortable for the bowlers here in Sharjah because of the shorter boundaries but credit to everyeone the way we fought. We were probably 15 to 20 runs short," added Lamichhane.
Meanwhile, captain AB de Villiers, who sat out the chase because of a sore back, is expected to be fit when the Qalandars play their next match in Dubai after a four-day turnaround.
