High on confidence after one of their splendid run-chases in IPL 10, Mumbai Indians would look to continue their winning momentum against a resurgent Gujarat Lions on Sunday.
Gujarat have somewhat redeemed themselves after a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Rising Pune Supergiant while Mumbai have six points from four games.
One area where MI will focus on is their top-order batting after having suffered a collapse against RCB. Leg-spinner Samuel Badree took a hat-trick but it was one of Kieron Pollard's best run-chases that sealed it for the Mumbai outfit. Another area of concern is skipper Rohit Sharma's inability to read the googly - three times he was dismissed by the wrong 'un from Imran Tahir, Rashid Khan and Badree.
With three sub-10 scores, Rohit would like to get a big one against Gujarat Lions on the Wankhede track, which is usually considered friendly for batsmen.
One of the biggest positives for Mumbai has been the form of Pandya brothers - Hardik and Krunal. They have made significant all-round contributions in all the matches. Krunal impressed with his unbeaten innings of 37 off 30 balls in a pressure situation in the game against RCB after his 37 off 20 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This apart, his impressive left-arm spin has also helped the team.
The win showed Mumbai's ability to bounce back in a game from any stage.
Harbhajan Singh has been fantastic in the Powerplay overs and Lasith Malinga is likely to replace Kiwi pacer Tim Southee, who leaked runs in the game in Bangalore. Another notable aspect will be the lack of dew which becomes a massive factor during evening matches.
For Gujarat Lions, they would like to start with the opening pair of Brandon McCullum and Dwayne Smith, both having regained form.
Also skipper Suresh Raina got some runs under his belt.
Even their bowling attack has got a new lease of life with Australian pacer Andrew Tye in their side.
Tye, who took the second hat-trick of this IPL season, would need support from others specially Praveen Kumar who was listless in the game against RPS.
But their biggest weapons could be Ravindra Jadeja and Shadab Jakati. These two all-rounders will have to play a crucial role if the Lions want to restrict the Mumbai Indians line up.
