Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated ace Indian tennis player Leander Paes and top Swiss player Martina Hingis on winning the Wimbledon mixed doubles title.
Modi, who is in the Tajikistan capital, said in a message: "More good news from Wimbledon. Congrats again Martina Hingis. Leander your accomplishments are truly inspiring and they make us very proud."
Paes and Hingis beat Austrian Alexander Peya and Hungary's Timea Babos 6-1, 6-1.
In a tweet, the prime minister also congratulated Sumit Nagal, 17, for winning the boys doubles at Wimbledon. "It was very heartening to see Sumit Nagal win at @Wimbledon. Congrats & best wishes to this young sportsman. @nagalsumit," Modi tweeted.
