Indian High School-Dubai walked away with five of the six titles in the summit rounds of the Shuttle Time Dubai Schools Championships at Dubai Stars Sportsplex, Al Mizhar, on Monday.
Appearing in all six finals, Indian High made a clean sweep of the girls crowns in the under 13, under 15 and under 17 divisions. They continued with their winning ways in the boys events, claiming the under 13 and under 15 categories, before GEMS Our Own Indian School-Al Quoz halted their progress, to claim the under 17 boys championship.
The under 13 girls final saw Indian High defeat Millennium School 3-0 and in the girls under 15 championship round, Indian High edged Delhi Private School-Dubai 2-1. The girls under 17 title round saw Indian High get past Gems Our Own Indian High-Al Quoz 2-1.
In boys action, Indian High cruised to a 3-0 victory over Our Own High School-Al Warqa and later the winners cheered their under 15 teammates to a 2-1 win over Our Own High School-Al Warqa. Gems Our Own Indian School-Al Quoz defeated Indian High 3-0 in the boys under 17 summit clash late in the afternoon.
Top Indian international and world number six, Kidambi Srikanth and former world champion Peter Gade of Denmark watched some of the games in the morning and afternoon, before going on to play an exhibition match at the Creekside, Dubai Creek later in the evening where they signed autographs. Some of Dubai's top young shuttlers at the schools finals had the opportunity to interact and play with Srikanth and Gade, who is an ambassador for the Shuttle Time Dubai's grassroot level activities.
The superstars of the sport were visiting Dubai to promote Shuttle Time Dubai and the Dubai World Superseries Finals.
