Desert King Water Proofing won the 13th Al Wahda Indian Independence Day Cup after defeating Global Lion by five wickets at the Fair ground Oval on Saturday. The tournament was organized by Seven Seas Sports Club, with prizes being donated by Deepak Arora of City Diamond.
Although the cricket festival was scheduled to take place on August 15, the same could not be conducted due to extreme weather conditions.
Batting first, Global Lion scored 32 all out in five overs, Shafqat Ali making 11 not out. Man of the match Fahad Tariq took two wickets while Raiz Ahmed and Salman Randawa claimed a wicket each.
Desert King Water Proofing achieved the target in only 2.2 overs losing one wicket after Ayoub Ahmed's 18 not out and Salman Babar's 13 not out .
Earlier in the semifinals, Desert King Waterproffing trounced Anib Blue by five wickets while Global Lion beat Anib Green by 12 runs.
