Sri Lankan veteran Tillakaratne Dilshan has announced his retirement from international cricket, according to an announcement on Sri Lanka Cricket 's portal. 
He said that the Sri Lanka- Australia five-ODI-match home series would be his last appearance in the international cricket.
At the end of Sri Lanka's second ODI against Australia, Dilshan has 10,248 runs in 329 ODIs. He has accumulated 22 centuries and 47 half-centuries. 

Dilshan has earned one of the rare honours of a stroke -'Dilscoop' - named after him. He has remained one of the most destructive Sri Lankan opening batsmen in the last decade or so. 

He is the sixth highest run getter for Sri Lanka in their cricket history, scoring 5,492 runs at 40.98 with 16 centuries and 23 half-centuries. Dilshan retired from Test cricket in October 2013 at the age of 36, citing that he wanted a youngster to replace him in the side.
He was the first to quit Test cricket among the senior Sri Lankan trio of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene.
