As cricket fans are gearing up for next month's Abu Dhabi T10, UAE cricketer Chirag Suri is excited about representing the Bangla Tigers in the star-studded tournament.
"I will be representing the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10. I am looking forward to it as this format has been really good in terms of power-hitting," Suri told Khaleej Times in an exclusive interview.
"So it's a really fast-paced format and the crowd loves it. But for the players, it's not really easy as you are under the pump for the 90 minutes."
The New Delhi-born batsman says the T10 tournament has given him a chance to learn from the best players in the world.
"This tournament has given me the chance to interact with the best players in the world. You get to learn a lot about how they take pressure and things like that. So in terms of gearing you up for your international duties, these are really good tournaments and it's in Abu Dhabi this year and we are looking forward to that," Suri said.
Suri believes the shortest format offers cricket the best chance to reach the Olympics in future.
"We obviously want to see cricket in the Olympics. It's quite short and it fits the criteria to be in the Olympic Games," he said.
"So definitely, as a cricketer and as an audience, I love watching teams play in short formats. It's quite entertaining. So let's see what happens."
