One of the very pleasant aspects to life in the Emirates is the caring approach of its leaders and percolating from them the actions of the people themselves. A splendid example of this was the number of people who asked to be counted in helping a Sri Lankan couple with ten children who were in bad shape. This mindset is arrived at by example from the top. It is the same desire that brought sunshine into the life of a humanitarian who has dedicated herself to looking after the poor and destitute. Being informed of her consistent good works, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, made an impromptu telephone call to Ghobaisha Al Ketbi, a resident of Al Shuwaib area in Al Ain to commend her on her dedication to others and the service to the community.
It is a small gesture but a very heartening act to be so acknowledged. Imagine her surprise and her happiness when she heard his voice. It is not so much the courtesy but the fact that such eminent people never lose the common touch and genuinely appreciate outstanding and exceptional effort sending out a very simple message: we are watching and we care.
