Did you know that residents could get their Emirates ID issued in 24 hours?
Apparently, in a statement issued a few years back, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship had announced urgent Emirates ID service, and had issued over 99,000 ID cards through its urgent service during the first half of 2014.
The Director of Service Centers Support IAC had said in an interview that the 'urgent' issuance service allows citizens and GCC nationals in UAE to obtain their ID cards within 24 hours through de-centralized printing devices by paying a fee of Dh150.

"The Emirates ID also allows residents in the country to avail the urgent service for issuing replacement for a lost card only since the issuance of a new card or renewing a card is linked to the residence permit issuance," he added.
"Issuance of the ID card through the normal service on Emirates ID website https://www.ica.gov.ae/en, via mobile phones or through typing centers takes one week from the application time for citizens, while it takes one week from the issuance of the residency permit for expatriates, provided that all data and documents have been given correctly in the application form."
In recent years, the authority has updated its system to improve services, including announcing fee waiver for select residents.

Earlier in 2019, FAIC announced that elderly people above the age of 70 who are unable to visit the customer services centers are exempted from the urgent service fees at the customer services centers.
"They have to prove their age with their family book, passport or any other authentic document," the authority said on Twitter.
Fraud warning

Recently, the FAIC had also issued a notification for residents, urging them to be careful of fraudsters.

The department warned Emirates ID holders never to share their personal or banking details by phone, adding that the authority never collects such data by phone or email.
