Three men 'arrest' Dubai expat, steal Dh55,000 from his car

Three Pakistani men faced charges of impersonating police officers and robbery at the Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday.
Public prosecution records show that on July 20 in Naif, three jobless men, aged between 27 and 39, stole Dh 55,000 from the victim's car after posing as officers from CID (Criminal Investigation Department). They also tied the victim up.
The three defendants are detained, while their other accomplices are still at large.
The victim, a 37-year-old ironsmith said that he was in Freej Al Murar, Naif, with other workers where he was supervising some work. "It was around 11am when I walked out from a shop where I bought some electronics. Four men blocked my way, introducing themselves as CID officers."
The victim recounted to the prosecution investigator how the men forcefully pulled him inside a building entrance. "They tied up my hands and one of them snatched my wallet and searched it. He did not find my ID. Two of them went to my car after finding the keys in my pocket. They fled the scene and left me tied up.

The victim was later untied after workers, who heard his screams, rushed to his help. He found out later that an amount of Dh55,000 that he had kept in his car was gone.
A police corporal said that the incident was reported around 11:30 am. "Fingerprints and other evidence were lifted from the crime scene. Arrest warrants were issued against the suspects."
The victim identified the three defendants among other suspects at the police station.
During investigation, the three men admitted to the charges.
The court will hand down a ruling on November 21.
