23-year-old tries to kill herself in Dubai after lover breaks promise

A young woman in Dubai tried to kill herself after her lover told her his mother was trying to find a bride for him.
The 23-year-old Asian national had been in an intimate relationship with the 26-year-old lover for nearly a year prior to the incident.
Despite promising he would marry her, he still told her of his mother's plans for him, as per Arabic media report.
He had bought a gold necklace as part of his promise. They had sex on two separate occasions afterwards.  
She slit her left wrist in an attempt to scare him into keeping his promise to her last August, but she was saved.
Public prosecutors referred her to court for attempted suicide and consensual intercourse. He was also referred to court for consensual intercourse.
