Thakur, the founder of 'Artistic Yoga' a form of yoga practised by thousands of people around the world including celebrities such as Michael Douglas, Salman Khan, Malaika Arora and sportsman Edwin Moses, set up his centre in Dubai to cater to the needs of the people in this region.

'Artistic Yoga' is a flow of asanas (postures) combined with pranayama (breathing techniques) that energise the mind and quieten the body. It works on all four aspects of fitness-flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, strength and mental well-being.

"In this part of the world, people suffer from a lot of stress-related illnesses. From migraines, backaches and diabetes to job insecurity and anxiety disorders, we suffer from a variety of ailments which can be cured with yoga," he said, during a Press launch. "Yoga help us achieve that blissful stage in which the body and mind progressively become one relieving stress and anxiety," he added.

Located at the Al Hana Centre in Satwa, the studio boasts five fully qualified trained yoga teachers, personal training and consultation and special programmes and sessions for corporates. All the instructors of Artistic Yoga are personally chosen by Thakur and undergo a four-year training programme.

Dr S.K. Ramesh, Traumatologist and Wellness Consultant, spoke of the need for people to take up the practice of yoga in order to lead a more holistic life.
