Speaking to Khaleej Times, Mr Al Tayer said that the German delegation was briefed on the UAE's labour market. "The delegation has been told about the working conditions of national and expat workforce," he said. The three-member delegation was headed by Heinz Putzahammer, Member of the Executive Committee of the German Trade Union Federation, and included Ingo Speier, Attache, German Embassy, and Wolf Zacharias, Legal Consultant, Schluter Graf & Partner.

Dr Al Awar said that the discussions were based on an earlier agreement signed by Mr Schroeder on economic issues and the conditions of the labour market. Mr Putzahammer told Khaleej Times that the talks with the minister and director-general were based on the situation of both national and expatriate workforce and the social security system.
