The company, one of the leaders in the dried fruits and spices categories in the region, plans to expand of one of its manufacturing facilities in Dubai this year, with another new facility expected in the next two years in Egypt, according to a top official of the company. Gyma processes and packs over 10,000 tonnes of dried fruits, nuts and spices annually in Dubai.
Gyma affirmed its commitment to the region by launching “Bayara”, the new Arabic trademark for all Gyma products in the region. In Dubai, products with the new trademark will be available by the end of this month and rest of the region by the end of 2012.
“The UAE is the strongest market in the region for the company in terms of sales. The company has two factories in the country that shows our trust on this country and its leadersbip,” Gyma chief executive officer Jean Marc Lourau told Khaleej Times at the launch of the new trademark in Dubai on Sunday. Lourau said the company expects an annual turnover at Dh500 million by 2018, compared to Dh300 million at the moment.
For the past ten years, the company has maintained a 20 per cent year on year growth in the region and 2012 is projected to follow the same trend. The business will continue to grow in region with a minimum 10 per cent in the next three to four years, he said. The company covers 22 countries in the region with 20 distributors, he added.
Responding a question about the new trademark, he said it’s not risky and added: “Today we are rewriting our local chapter and after 20 years of presence in the region, Bayara confirms our affinity to Arabia and its cuisine. The new logo and colors signify our natural products and the personality of a warm-hearted mother; much loved and trusted to take care of the family’s wellbeing. The trademark is a reflection of Bayara’s core values, ‘simply full of life!’”
“With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, we are expecting to enter each home with our new trademark to associate ourselves to the Arabian sharing way of life with our popular almond, cashew, pistachio and dried fruits,” he added.
