A sponsorship contract between Rosy Blue, a diamantaire of international repute, and the UAE Billiards & Snooker Association (UAEBSA) was signed this week in Dubai, paving the way for the national snooker and pool players to ready themselves for the international challenges this years.
UAEBSA secretary-general Sultan Al Joakar said at the Press conference: “The support from Rosy Blue has come in the hour of need as we plan to prepare our national players for some major events ahead with the most important being the 2013 Asian Martial Arts & Indoor Games in Incheon, South Korea.
“Apart from that, our players will be taking part in the Asian Under-21 and Asian Snooker Championships and the world youth and men’s championships over the coming months. Besides, there are a number of international pool tournaments scheduled for the near future as well.
“Traditionally, we have utilised the Rosy Blue sponsorship for arranging training camps for our top players and ensuring the participation in the international competitions and the number of events going up this year, we need more support from our patrons.
“Over the years, their backing has helped us tremendously to groom new talents as well and UAEBSA remains grateful to Rosy Blue-Dubai chairman Harshad Ramniklal Mehta for his great support to our sports.”
In an earlier interview, Mehta, who is an adamant sports lover, said: “I have always been a keen supporter of sports and I have always believed that it is the duty of successful businesses to play their part in the development of non-mainstream sports too. We do it because we feel we owe this to our youth and much more to this wonderful nation and the great leaders of the UAE.
The UAE players have a very busy schedule ahead. First, they take part in the 2013 Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship in India on April 1-7, followed by the men’s Asian Snooker Championship in Karachi on April 27 - May 3. Next will be the Asian 6-red Snooker and Team Championships in Doha in the end of May and 2013 Asian Martial Arts & Indoor Games in Incheon, South Korea in July.
