The top 3 from the Order of Merit win a trip to Thailand including flights, accommodation and golf.

The prizes were sanctioned by the EGF with their overall value falling within the rules of Amateur Status.

Going into the 8th and final round only Kim’s wife, Normita Demesa, has a realistic chance to overtake him as she sat trailed by only 2 points.

Equally exciting was the race for 3rd spot with only 8.7 points separating Mohammed Firdus and Order of Merit defending champion Hassan Yazdi in 3rd and 4th places respectively.

The top 4 played together with Kim and Demesa locked in a personal duel for the title and Firdus and Yazdi concentrating on making the top 3.

The pressure clearly showed on the top 2 with both of them returning net 84’s to take tied 19th spot and the minimum number of points meaning Kim finally triumphed on 120.5 points to Demesa’s 118.5.

Yazdi, who had had a lesson with coach Dong Lee the week previous and had spent the week between on the driving range returned a solid net 73 to take an overall tie for 3rd.

Firdus, who had sat in 3rd place for most of the season, returned a respectable net 79, which had it been outright would have seen him head to Thailand in September.

Unfortunately he tied with 2 others diluting the points awarded to just 6 points leaving him an agonizing 1.8 points behind his Iranian counterpart.

Firdus put his head in his hands as the final points were announced while Yazdi’s euphoria was clear for all to see.

Henry Boutros of Thai Airways was present at the prize giving at which Champion Golden Kim thanked The Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways for such thrilling support of the SGSC Monthly Medal series.

The golf trip to Thailand in September is also open to the public with interested parties welcome to contact SGSC Golf Business Development and Sales manager Claire Badger on 06-548777 or golfsales@golfandshootingshj.com for further details.
