Twenty nine schools took part in the championships.

TIHS, a top institution here when it comes to promoting grassroot level sports and games for the community, claimed the titles in boys and girls basketball, and in girls badminton and boys table tennis.

Silver medal podium finishes in boys basketball and badminton, and girls table tennis, saw the Karama-based school cement their position for the overall crown.

In girls basketball, TIHS saw off the challenges of Winchester 31–10, Our Own English High School, Dubai 44–33, Delhi Private School, Sharjah 28–22 and The Millennium School, Dubai, the defending champs, 18–14. In the title round, TIHS downed Our Own English School, Dubai.

TIHS displayed high calibre in the boys basketball tourney where the A side beat Our Own High School, Al Waarqa 36 –17, Emirates National School, Sharjah 55–33 and New Indian Model School, Sharjah 36–20 before losing to their B side 26–29 in early play.

The B lads ousted The Millennium School, Dubai 34–21, Delhi Private School, Sharjah 33–11 but lost 32-34 to New Indian Model School, Sharjah.

A tie in the team points in the league saw a countback of the match points being taken into account to decide the final positions. Here TIHS A came out narrow winners and the B side, the runners up.

In soccer Dubai Modern School, Dubai won the title defeating New Indian Model School, Sharjah via the tie break 4–2.

Delhi Private School Dubai won the girls honours beating eventual runners-up Winchester School in straight sets in the round robin league of the volleyball competition.

In the boys section, Emirates National School, Sharjah walked away with the crown while St. Mary’s Catholic High School got silver.

On the ping-pong front, Delhi Private School Sharjah outgunned TIHS 3–1 in the summit clash of the gilrs section while the TIHS boys edged defending champs Delhi Private School Sharjah 3–2 in a nailbiting title clash.

The two-member boys team of St Mary’s Catholic High School, Fujairah, the defending champions, were domineering just as in the previous edition. They steam rolled past their opponents with ease and their final against the hosts was a cakewalk.

The festival was opened by Abraham Manohar, headmaster, for boys competitons and Prabha Varma for for the girls events. School principals KP Joseph and Abraham Prakash gave away the prizes and awards.
