Farooq CC trounce UBL
Shehzad Khalid scored a fine half century as Farooq CC secured a comfortable 96-run victory over United Bank Limited (UBL) in the 39th Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, according to a Press release.
Put in to bat first, Farooq CC made a steady start with openers Mohammad Ahmed (18) and Qais Farooq (40) providing a perfect base.
Adel Reyal chipped in with a crucial 28 from 47 deliveries to further strengthen the total but it was Khalid’s innings and Amir Iftikhar’s late unbeaten 23 off 20 balls that ensured Farooq CC reached a challenging 224 for eight in 50 overs. Khalid hit four boundaries during his 53 that came off 60 deliveries.

UBL’s chase hit the rough when they lost three quick wickets for only 10 runs. Mohmmad Ahmed accounted for two while Qasim Zubair snared the other.
Aqeel Anwar (21) and Rameez Shahzad (17) rescued UBL from further trouble sharing 36 runs for the fourth wicket.
Abdullah Afzal (43) and Ahmed Raza (25) built on from there but Farooq CC did not allow their opponents to dominate running through the lower order as UBL were bundled out for only 128 in 42.3 overs.
