Justin D’Souza laid the foundation with a top score of 43 and the ADIS bowlers stuck to their task to dismiss Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School to 123 to register a 30-run in the final at the Zayed stadium.
D’Souza stroked 43 off 49 deliveries after Tahir Mohammed struck a double blow by removing Sarvesh Selvam (0) in the very first over and the one-drop Sreeradh Pothera (2) two overs later.
But having struck two early blows, the Pakistan School bowled too many wides, 28, and gave away 37 extras for ADIS to build a healthy total after they were put in to bat first.
D’Souza was sixth out at 116 but useful contributions from the lower order – Bharath Siva (15 off 20 balls), Ayman Gundru (14 off 7) and Anirudh Padmanabhan (run-a-ball 14 not out) – help them to post 153 on the board.
Pakistan School raced to 25 for no loss in four overs but lost three wickets for three runs to three different bowlers – Pothera, Kushal Mohnot and Nauman Haneef.
Bilal Mohammed (23) and Siddique Akbar (10) got Pakistan School’s chase back on track with a 35-run stand for the eight wicket when Padmanabhan struck twice in two deliveries.
He got rid of Mohammed to a superb catch at the deep mid wicket fence by Salman Obaray and bowled Hamza Majeed in his very next ball to get ADIS back on top.
D’Souza won the Most Valuable Player award and Manpreet Singh the Best Bowler, both of ADIS, and the Best Batsman prize went to Rehan Azam of Pakistan School.
The champions ADIS team: Kushal Mohnot (Captain), Sreeradh Pothera, Sarvesh Selvam, Justin D’Souza, Manpreet Singh, Abhinav Ravichandran, Anirudh Padmanabhan, Nauman Haneef, Ayman Gundru, Salman Obaray, Bharath Siva, Anit Chaudhary, Shaikh Mohammed, Ayaan Ahmed.
