The statement of the FCCI general-secretary came during his meeting with the members of the UAE Business Women Council’s fourth session board of directors at the UAE Business Women Council headquartered in Dubai.
The general-secretary wished the board of directors success in their efforts to realise the goals of the council, which operates under the umbrella of the UAE FCCI.
He also reinforced their central role in the process of sustainable development and community service. The business women sector accounts for almost 10 per cent of the private sector. In addition to that, the participation of UAE woman in the workforce in the private sector has soared to 42 per cent, particularly in the services, retail, hotels and tourism sectors.
He reiterated the importance of these councils in bringing business women in the UAE closer together and discuss important current issues. The general-secretary lauded the achievements of UAE woman and the UAE Business Women Council thanks to the unlimited support of the UAE government headed by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the continuous follow up of Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Honorary Chairwoman of the UAE Business Women Council.
He added that the aim of establishing the UAE Business Women Council under the UAE FCCI’s umbrella in 2001, was to better represent the UAE’s business women in international and regional functions in a way that reflects the excellent status of the UAE woman. The FCCI’s General Secretariat has adopted numerous initiatives that will serve the UAE private sector in coordination with the concerned member chambers, ministries, and local and federal organizations. One of the most important initiatives is to enhance the Emiritisation policy and improve social responsibilities of private institutions as per international practices.
On her part Fatima Obaid Al Jaber, chairwoman of the UAE Business Women Council and the executive chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Business Women Council, briefed the general-secretary on the council’s action plan and the programs it is working to implement in order to serve the business women sector.
