Dubai: Hisense, manufacturer of flat panel TVs, household appliances and mobile communications, has announced the Middle East launch of its “super-sturdy” smartphone ‘King Kong’.
Unveiling the new range, Terry Wang, managing director of Hisense Middle East FZE, said the ‘King Kong’ is a flagship product that has gained good reviews following its launch at the 2015 Mobile World Congress. “The preview of ‘King Kong’, which we marked earlier this year at Gitex and other technology events, generated positive response and enthusiasm from smartphone lovers in the UAE.”
Targeted at hikers, mountaineers and other adventure seekers, Hisense ‘King Kong’ is shatter-proof and has good dust-proof and water-proof rating too. At 9.4 mm thickness, a length of 144 mm and width of 71.9 mm, it is sleek and has good computing features.
“This smartphone is also valuable for consumers who unknowingly drop their phones due to their nature of work, hectic lifestyle or at home, when their toddlers play with it,” he said.
“The ‘King Kong’ will have a stand-alone position in the smartphone market for its durability and high performance. Further, it is competitively priced. The launch of ‘King Kong’ underlines our commitment to be one of the top three brands in the region by 2020. We see significant demand for it in the UAE and Middle East, especially among adventure seekers as it suits all sports activities,” said Wang.
Amjad Mahamed, marketing director of Hisense Middle East FZE, said Hisense is one of the fastest growing brands across all sectors. “In the smartphone sector, it has earned a clear distinction among consumers for its hi-tech products. We are confident that ‘King Kong’ will mark a new chapter in the growth of Hisense’s market share in smartphones in the region.”
