Renowned furniture brand Interiors on Wednesday launched Calvin Klein Furniture Curator Collection gallery in Dubai. It is the first gallery of Calvin Klein Furniture in Middle East.
Interiors, established by the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group in 1968, plans to explore the Gulf region by adding three to five more showrooms in next five years to launch the luxurious designer Calvin Klein Curator collection in the Gulf region.
“We have plans to expand the furniture brand in the Gulf region and will explore Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman in coming years,” Abdulla Al Gurg, group general manager, told Khaleej Times after the inauguration of the gallery.
Interiors showcases an exclusive collection of the world’s finest brands including Mariner, Coleccion Alexandra, Koher, Fejomi, and Fama of Spain; Giorgio Collection, Cornelio Cappellini, Seven Sedie, and Scappini of Italy; Calvin Klein, Bernhardt, Broyhill, Paul Robert, and Klaussner of the USA.
Al Gurg was upbeat about the success of the brand success in the region and said the group is known to offer a wide range of superior quality furniture and accessories from well-known manufacturers worldwide.
“We are proud to be the first furniture retailer to exclusively launch the Calvin Klein Curator collection in the UAE. At Interiors, our endeavour is to constantly offer select collections from renowned furniture brands to our discerning and esteemed clientele,” he said.
In reply to a question, he said securing rights to host World Expo 2020 would have a positive impact on businesses in Dubai. The event, which was also attended by Mrs Raja Al Gurg, managing director, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, gave attendees an opportunity to see the stunning collection by Calvin Klein Home representatives including the president and chief executive of Calvin Klein Furniture Michael Foster. Consul General of Lebanon Sami Nmeir and Consul General of the USA Robert Waller were also present on the occasion.
“Interiors would be the Calvin Klein representative in Dubai. They are the right fit for the brand,” Foster told Khaleej Times.
Speaking at the launch of the curator collection, Foster said the Calvin Klein Curator collection represents the soul of Calvin Klein’s design spirit.
About the brand’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the region, he said: “Interiors is our first Calvin Klein furniture Curator Collection gallery in the Middle East. We are confident Interiors will do an excellent job of representing the Calvin Klein furniture line on our behalf.”
To a question about the outlook for home decor market, he said trend in the high-end is moving to more contemporary styling with clean lines and rich exotic woods.
“Interiors has done an excellent job of capturing this trend with the Calvin Klein Curator collection. We are proud of our business partnership with Interiors. They understand the importance of presenting the Calvin Klein home products in a tightly merchandised lifestyle environment. We are optimistic for enjoying a long term, successful relationship with Interiors,” he added.
He said the Middle East consumer appreciates quality and great design. “This is a good fit for Calvin Klein.”
To a question about the brand’s core markets, he said North America is currently the largest presence for Calvin Klein. The emerging markets are Eastern Europe and Asia, particularly for furniture, he added.
To a question about the brand performance in 2013, he said Calvin Klein Home had an excellent year as the furniture lines business more than doubled in 2013.
“We anticipate growing our worldwide business by more than double again in 2014 as we open more Calvin Klein furniture galleries in North America and different parts of the world,” he added.
