The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Land Department (DLD), during the Dubai Sustainable Cities Summit.
The summit was organised by the DLD in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme.
The MoU was signed by Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, secretary-general of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and Sultan Butti bin Mejren, director-general of the DLD. The MoU forms the foundation for further cooperation in energy demand side management to draw an energy intensity map of Dubai.
"In line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the development of sustainability in the emirate, and adhering to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, we are working towards becoming the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, vice-chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
"Through our cooperation with the Dubai Land Department, we seek to exchange knowledge and raise awareness among the community about conserving energy and water, with this energy intensity map," said Al Muhairbi.
