Dubai Police’s laudable efforts in spreading awareness about the dangerous impacts of overloading passengers and luggage and imposing a penalty for offenders is an effective step in minimising road mishaps.

Filling the vehicles with excess luggage and passengers above capacity, speeding, jumping signals and cutting lanes can cause fatal accidents. Overloading can significantly impair the driver’s ability to brake and steer correctly, causes excessive damage to roads and puts undue strain on tyres, making the vehicles unstable.

Following road safety culture and traffic rules should be mandatory for every motorist. Untoward incidents will be minimised if motorists abide by the foremost policy of vigilance
