Abdul Sattar Edhi was a humanitarian legend and a public figure like none else in Pakistan.
The attempt to hijack his funeral rites from the general public and to make it an exclusive affair of the oligarchy was unwarranted.
This showed that the elite wanted to cash in on Edhi's popularity by showing before the public, among whom they don't bother to mingle otherwise.
Yet, Edhi belongs to the poor and the middle class, and he will remain so. The elite has made a fun of themselves.
