When an Uber driver changed his route to avoid a red light, he did not expect his impromptu move to win him a $100,000 (Dh367,000) lottery jackpot.
Horatio Johnson, who is an Uber driver in Virginia, was finishing his shift after dropping off his last passenger and was heading towards his home in Woodbridge. In order to avoid a red light, Johnson decided to pull into the Old Bridge Road Exxon station, he told Virginia Lottery officials.
He then impulsively decided to go inside the station and bought a $4,000,000 Spectacular Riches scratch-off ticket, according to reports in UPI. Johnson said that he did not expect to win and was startled on scratching the ticket which revealed the $100,000 jackpot. "I almost flipped my lid!" he said.
The Uber driver said he will use the lottery money to pay off his debt and the rest he will put in savings.
